At St. Mary’s, we love all forms of music and have a rich tradition to draw from. Our services include many songs to help with worship, create a prayerful atmosphere, or match the season and events. The person leading the service selects music to fit the theme and set the desired mood. The music group easily transitions between new songs and traditional hymns to meet the congregation’s needs.

We may occasionally get the notes wrong, but we sing and play with enthusiasm and do our best to worship God.

Meet The Music Group: Vic, Julie, Martin, Iain, Rose, Janet, Ellen, Ron, Janet, Sue, and Vikki.

If you’d like to join the music group or just sing with us occasionally, we meet at 8 pm every Thursday in the church. For more details, visit the ‘Contact us’ page to email or call us. Everyone is welcome.

Music for Different Occasions

Morning worship and communion feature our music group with singers, piano, bass, violin, and digital drums. Most weeks, we have a children’s action song video, allowing us to participate in the actions. We also usually have a hymn played on the organ. Our songs and hymns come from the 6 Songs of Fellowship books, with the words projected on a screen for everyone to join in.

Cafe worship is more of a mix of live contemporary music and video tracks which enables things to be relaxed and lively in equal measure.

At Christmas and for other traditional occasions such as Remembrance Day we draw more heavily on the well known traditional hymns, carols and songs that you would expect of those seasons. After all, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a bit of good old carol singing in church!

Examples of music used in our worship

For All the Saints (A traditional hymn played on the organ without singing)
